Alexandra Cernian is an associate professor at the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest, an expert in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and AI governance. With over 15 years of experience in research, education, and consultancy, she is an evaluator for European programs such as Horizon Europe and Digital Europe and actively contributes to the development and implementation of AI solutions in both academic and business environments.

Dr. Alexandru Sorici is an Assistant Professor at UPB and a member of the AI-MAS research laboratory. Alexandru holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UPB and École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Saint-Étienne (a joint thesis defended in 2015). The thesis aims to create a middleware that allows the design and programming of context-aware applications. The emphasis of the thesis is on expressiveness in modelling and reasoning, as well as on increased flexibility in configuration and implementation. The proposed system incorporates a lot of techniques from the fields of semantic web and multi-agent systems.

His research interests encompass context management, agent-oriented programming, human activity recognition, and ambient intelligence (which extends to research in assisted robotics, autonomous driving, and wearable device data analysis in a medical context). Alexandru has published over 45 research papers in international journals and conference proceedings.
Recent research activities and projects include working on context-management in Hypermedia-based Multi-Agent Systems (director of project CASHMERE), studying the predictive power of data from wearable devices and patient logs in determining the health status of patients suffering from neurological diseases (HORIZON 2020 ALAMEDA project), and working on techniques of adaptive AI applied to time series analysis and medical data as part of the AI Lighthouse project ENFIELD.
Alexandru also serves as the Secretary of the Romanian Association for Artificial Intelligence (ARIA). In this role, he has contributed to organizing several events aimed at education and raising public awareness about Artificial Intelligence, including TiCIA (Young Researchers in AI – 2015, 2016, 2018), EEML 2019, Romanian AI Days, and the AI4Highschool initiative.

Anca Morar obtained her engineering degree from POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest in 2009 and her Ph.D. in 2012, with her research focusing on the analysis and visualization of medical images. She is currently a professor in the Department of Computers, Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers, National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest.

With over 30 years of experience, Anca Ionita is currently a professor and PhD supervisor at the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest and head of the Automation and Industrial Informatics Department. She was the recipient of a Copernicus grant at Politecnico di Torino, Italy, in 1994, and of a Marie Curie fellowship at Joseph Fourier University, Grenoble, France, from 2004 to 2006.

Andrei Olaru is Associate Professor with the Computer Science Department of National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest, member of the AI-MAS Laboratory, and founding member of ARIA, the Romanian Association for Artificial Intelligence. He received his B.Sc. (2008) from the Computer Science Department of UPB, his M.Sc. (also in 2008) from Polytech Nantes (University of Nantes), and his Ph.D. degree (2011) jointly from University Politehnica of Bucharest and University Pierre and Marie Curie (Paris 6), now University Sorbonne. He has lead several national research projects, and he was responsible at UPB for FIT-Europe Erasmus+ project.

Bogdan Dumitrescu received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in 1987 and 1993, respectively,
from University Politehnica of Bucharest, Romania. He is now a Professor with the Department of Automatic Control and Computers, University Politehnica of Bucharest, where he works since 1990. He held several visiting research positions at Tampere University of Technology, Finland, in particular that of FiDiPro fellow (2010-2013). He was Associate Editor (2008-2012) and Area Editor (2010-2014) at IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing. He authored the book “Positive trigonometric polynomials and signal processing applications” and coauthored “Dictionary learning algorithms and applications”. His scientific interests are in optimization, numerical methods, and their applications to signal processing, especially using sparse representations.
