Digital business ecosystems for the development of innovative products and processesSmart Mobile Society

The SIMfo laboratory conducts research on models and intelligent information management based on data acquired from non-homogeneous sources, including sensors, edge devices and social networks. SIMfo research interests are knowledge engineering, software tools for language-based development, low code, machine learning, blockchain, and decision-support systems. Our applications include various IT services for protection from risks due to radiological and nuclear facilities, water and air pollution, biological and pandemic hazards.

IT SERVICES FOR HAZARD MANAGEMENT
Our research is focused on models and information services for hazard management systems, based on smart data acquired from sensors, edge devices and social networks. The goal is to deliver early warning and alerts for a large variety of natural and man-made hazards, as well as educational and population awareness services. The applications developed so far concern risks due to radiological and nuclear facilities, floods, water and air pollution, biological and pandemic hazards.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND COMPUTING METHODOLOGIES
The group conducts research activities in areas related to software engineering, databases, processing systems, and systems security.

  •  Systems for the industrial environment: data acquisition systems, measurement systems, processing data
  • Developing software systems, programming languages, modelling languages and meta-modelling, managing projects, developing applications of artificial intelligence, knowledge-based systems
  • Developing and managing large databases, distributed databases, performance analysis and visualization of large data warehouses, data mining, web mining
  • Parallel and distributed processing systems: service-oriented architecture, distributed systems, cloud computing, parallel computing architectures
  • Systems and networks security: cryptography, cryptanalysis, biometrics and security metrics, protection of information in E-Systems.
