Energy Efficient Processes and Resilient Critical Infrastructures (CEEP)

This research group within the laboratory conducts research and development activities related to systems analysis, modelling, design, simulation, development and testing control applications on different industrial and laboratory platforms with a focus on the energy field.

Research activities:

  • Modelling and simulation of critical infrastructures (smart grid, smart cities, air pollution and agriculture);
  • Fault detection and diagnosis of critical processes;
  • Risk management and assessment of critical situations;
  • Modeling, design and simulation of automated processes;
  • Simulation of related activities at various levels of process control, supervising and monitoring using specialized languages with applications in control, command, protection and diagnosis of industrial processes;
  • Automation and protection in power systems, power plants, microgrids, energy communities etc.
  • Providing project management, system testing and quality assurance
  • Tackling control problems for energy efficiency and net zero buildings
  • Assuring reliability and resilience for critical infrastructures

Specific collaboration interests lay in using automatic control strategies for complex energy systems to attain energy efficiency and environmental standards.

We are also applying ICT and AI technologies to the smart grid by developing associated informatics tools for monitoring, control and integration in high-level distributed structures.

Laboratory platforms facilitate teachers, young researchers and students’ training for validation, testing and optimization of control methods and algorithms. Also, it allows the design of technological scenarios for the practical application of control methods.

PhD studies, leading advanced research in energy systems, will be organised under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Ing. Ioana Fagarasan, Prof.dr.ing. Sergiu Stelian Iliescu and Prof.dr.ing. Grigore Stamatescu
