Eugen POP received a PhD in Telecommunications in 1999 from University Politehnica of Bucharest, Romania. The thesis focused on applying adaptive algorithms for multiuser signal detection within Code Division Multiple Access systems, CDMA.

He is currently a Head of Works and Senior Scientific Researcher at the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica of Bucharest, Romania, Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers. His main research interests areas include e-services development and providing through 5G networks, mobile and wireless communications networks, discrete event dynamic systems, service oriented architectures, cyber physical systems, internet of things, smart cities, intelligent systems, GPS/GIS, automatic vehicle location. He leaded several research and development projects in these domains. He is one of the founding members and representatives of the Romanian working group for the European Technology Platform for communications networks and services NetWorld2020 ETP, former European Technology Platform for Mobile and Wireless Communication – e-Mobility. He is author or co-author of more than 30 research papers presented and published in proceedings of international conferences and journals. He presented scientific papers at conferences organized by the Wireless World Research Forum – WWRF, International Association for Development of the Informational Society – IADIS, at Imperial College of London, etc. He is author of two books and book chapters about digital communications, CDMA systems and e-business services. He has a significant consulting and assessment activity for R&D projects, funded through EU and Romanian financial resources.
