Emil Slusanschi is a professor at the University Politehnica of Bucharest (UPB). He received his MSc in Computer Science from the UPB in 2001 and his PhD from the Institute for Scientific Computing at the RWTH-Aachen University in Germany in 2008. His fields of interest include high performance scientific computing, compilers, automatic semantic transformations of computer codes, numerical algorithms, computer systems architectures ranging from CPUs and GPUs to the latest APUs, TPUs and NPUs, technical and scientific writing and academic integrity. He coordinated the UPB team in the EUWB, TWISNet, LEXNET FP7 projects, he led the UNICORE H2020 EU project, and he is part of the research team in numerous national and Horizon Europe projects. He is currently heading the Computer Science and Engineering Department and the Centre for Research in Computing within the UPB. He is also a member of the board in the Romanian Association for the Promotion of Advanced Computational Methods in Scientific Research, the Teach for Romania Association, and a lifetime member of ACM.
