Cătălin Buiu, born in 1968, graduated from Politehnica University of Bucharest in 1992 with a degree in Control Engineering. He holds dual doctorates in Control Engineering and Natural Sciences (Biology). Since 2004, he has served as a Professor in the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering at the same university. Currently, he heads both the Laboratory of Natural Computing and Robotics and the Laboratory for Robotics and Applied Artificial Intelligence. His research focuses on the intersection of biological sciences, engineering, and robotics, aiming to enhance understanding of biological information processing and to develop intelligent computational systems. Recently, his work has expanded to include applications of deep learning techniques.
