Imad Alex AWADA is a scientific researcher at the PRECIS Research Center of the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest. He holds a Master of Engineer in Computer Science, Multimedia, Systems & Networks degree from Antonine University and a PhD degree in Computer Science from UPB. Alex’s research activity and interests span the domains of Human-computer interactions, Ambient Intelligence, Smart Interfaces, Human Activity Recognition, AI in education systems and medicine as well as Assistive Robotics. His PhD research focused on building an Adaptive Multimodal Interface for Active and Assisted Living Systems, which included a fusion engine for data coming from different input channels: microphone (for speech), camera (for emotions and touch-free gestures), touch-screen (for touch-based gestures). He published 29 publications: 25 in international conferences, 3 in journals and a book chapter. Alex has been/is involved in several national projects (e.g. VIRTUAL PATIENT, MERITT, ROBIN, CONSERT, ACTIVROBO, MOBILE@OLD, MCVRO, LOMAR…) and international projects (e.g. CAREUP, ALAMEDA, INCARE, IONIS, CAMI, NITICS…). Lastly, Alex is an active member of the Romanian Association for Artificial Intelligence (ARIA) and the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Multi-Agent Systems (AI-MAS).
