Dr. Silviu Răileanu is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers, University Politehnica of Bucharest (UPB). He holds a PhD in Systems Engineering, awarded through a joint program between UPB and Université de Valenciennes et du Hainaut-Cambrésis. His academic contributions span teaching and research, particularly in the areas of distributed control systems, multi-agent systems, and IoT technologies. Dr. Răileanu is responsible for teaching undergraduate courses on Manufacturing Systems Control and master’s courses in Multi-Agent Systems for Enterprise Control, Supply Chain Management, and Logistics. His research focuses on distributed and heterarchical control of discrete event systems, resource planning and allocation in flexible manufacturing systems, robotics, and artificial vision.

Dr. Silviu Răileanu earned his engineering degree in Systems Engineering and Computers from the University Politehnica of Bucharest (UPB) in 2005. In 2007, he completed his master’s degree in Open Architecture Systems from the same university. His academic journey was enriched by a Socrates scholarship at Université de Valenciennes et Hainaut-Cambrésis in 2005. In 2011, Dr. Răileanu completed his doctoral studies, which were conducted under a joint supervision agreement between UPB and Université de Valenciennes et du Hainaut-Cambrésis, focusing on distributed and heterarchical control systems.
Currently, Dr. Răileanu is deeply involved in both teaching and research at UPB’s Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers. His teaching portfolio includes undergraduate and master’s courses, where he emphasizes the importance of practical applications in the areas of multi-agent systems and manufacturing systems control. His research contributions include significant work in the optimization of manufacturing processes, robotics, and the integration of IoT technologies into industrial systems. He has participated in several research projects and has a solid publication record in high-impact journals, contributing to the advancement of industrial robotics and distributed control systems.
