K-Teams – Computer-Supported Collaborative Knowledge Construction LaboratoryAutonomous cognitive systems

The Computer-Supported Collaborative Knowledge Construction Laboratory (K-Teams) performs interdisciplinary research in Artificial Intelligence (AI) oriented towards the human factor. The domains of research are natural language processing, knowledge-based systems, ontologies, semantic web, social networks analysis, creativity fostering, and music with AI. We are also doing research connecting AI with the following interdisciplinary fields: group creativity, conversation analysis, linguistics, sociology, cognitive psychology, and computer ethics.

Natural Language Processing Services
Our team specializes in developing custom Natural Language Processing (NLP) models tailored to meet specific research and industry requirements. Leveraging state-of-the-art machine learning techniques and extensive linguistic expertise, these models are designed to perform a wide variety of tasks, including summary scoring, comprehension modeling, fake news classification, or involvement in online communities. These services not only support the enhancement of textual analysis capabilities but also enable the adaptation of models to unique datasets and complex linguistic phenomena.

Digital Humanities
K-Teams provides specialized services and analyses for digital humanities, integrating NLP tools with humanities research to uncover deeper insights in cultural studies, literature, and historical texts. By applying cleaning and pre-processing, advanced text mining, as well as analysis techniques, such as stylometry reflected in linguistic features, the team aids scholars in exploring new dimensions of humanistic studies. This service empowers researchers to conduct
extensive textual analysis at scale, facilitating a richer understanding of language, culture, and historical contexts in digital formats.

AI music analysis and generation
Research in AI music composition, analysis, and aesthetics evaluation. The polyphonic model also provides sonification of conversations.

ReaderBench
ReaderBench (https://readerbench.com) is a multi-purpose, multi-lingual, open-source platform available online that exposes a unified vision for predicting and assessing comprehension in both individual and collaborative learning scenarios. ReaderBench tackles multiple core and specific NLP tasks, including text analysis and document classification, question generation, and collaboration evaluation in Computer Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) conversations. ReaderBench aims to improve the quality and the classification of the analyzed documents by combining an expanded range of linguistic features and contextualized representations using Transformer-based language models.
